Spring Like Storms Friday

The 70s are gone for now but they’ll be back Friday along with our first taste of Spring like thunderstorms. I’m not expecting anything too strong but at least we’ll finally be getting some rain.

Looking at the CAPE(Convective Available Potential Energy) for Friday not very impressive but enough for a squall line.

The lifted index which shows the amount of instability is very small as well but again just enough for a weak squall line.

One of the elements working against anything too major is the the timing in the morning on Friday. We’d likely have a higher chance for strong or severe storms if this line arrived later in the day during the maximum heating. Which will be the case in eastern North Carolina. We could see a slight risk issued for eastern North Carolina for Friday afternoon, stay tuned!
