Winter Storm Update 2-12-10

It won’t be a record breaker for Charlotte area but this storm will continue to set records for areas of the deep south as snow falls in areas that have gone 30 years with out measurable snow. Here is a quick summary of what to expect here in the Carolinas.

The Models / GFS

The thing about this is it has been the wettest so far and these are 120 hour totals so some of the Presidents Day’s clipper is in there, more on that event later.

Right now as of this blog post I am going with a pretty wide area of 1-2” around Charlotte with lesser amounts the further north you go. When you head south into South Carolina expect closer to 2-3” especially around Rock Hill, Lancaster, Chester, Pageland, Wadesboro and Rockingham.  The really heavy stiff 4” or more will be likely around or just South of Columbia to just North of Charleston. Florence, SC and Lumberton North Carolina may see the highest totals from this storm. I’ll keep thing updated today via Twitter @wxbrad or over at wcnc.com
