Coca-Cola 600 Climatology & Weather History
It’s the greatest 2 weeks in Charlotte if you are a race fan as Speed Weeks Charlotte continues this weekend with the running of the longest race in the Nascar Sprint Cup series the Coca-Cola 600. The May races are always fun but they are always at the mercy of the Spring weather and storms that occurs in the Carolinas this time of the year. May is a very stormy month in the Carolinas. I personally witnessed the first rain out in the history of the race last year, as the race was moved to Memorial Day Monday and even then it was shortened due to rain. Last year ended up actually having the most rain the event had ever seen in its long history.
Once again thanks to the great work of William Schmitz at the Southeast Regional Climate Center for compiling the weather history for the spring race at Charlotte Motor speedway.
