THE TORNADO CAUSED SPORADIC DAMAGE AS IT TRACKED EAST-NORTHEAST...BEFORE ENDING AROUND ST JAMES CHURCH ROAD...JUST OUTSIDE THE SAINT JAMES PLANTATION SUBDIVISION. INITIALLY THE TORNADO WAS TOPPING TREES AND SNAPPING OFF TOPS OF TREES...BEFORE IMPACTING PARTS OF THE MAPLE LEAF SUB-DIVISION AND THE SAINT JAMES PLANTATION SUB-DIVISION. THOSE TWO SUB-DIVISIONS WERE THE LOCATIONS WHERE THE GREATEST CONCENTRATION OF DAMAGE WAS CENTERED. THE TORNADO WAS BRIEFLY AT ITS WIDEST POINT AT THESE LOCATIONS AS WELL. THE TORNADO BEGAN IN THE VICINITY/BETWEEN CINDY LANE AND HARMATTAN DRIVE...ROUGHLY 1.5 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF DENVER...NORTH OF WEBBS ROAD...ON A SOUTH FACING COVE...FROM AN INLET JUTTING WEST OF LAKE NORMAN. CONCENTATED DAMAGE WAS NOTED AS IT TRACKED NORTHEAST... BEFORE ENDING NEAR THE CROSS OF CINDY LANE AND BELFORD LANE. MANY TREES WERE FELLED OR SNAPPED. TREES FELL ON HOMES CAUSING CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE. ADDITIONALLY DAMAGE WAS NOTED TO ROOFS...GUTTERS AND FLASHING. OUTSIDE OF THE PRIMARY TORNADO AREAS...OUTFLOW DAMAGING WINDS WERE ALSO NOTED...WITH WIND SPEEDS OF 80 TO 90 MPH ESTIMATED. THOSE AREAS OF OUTFLOW DAMAGE WERE NOTED ON PARTS OF FORNEY HILL ROAD...LOCATIONS SOUTHEAST OF DENVER JUST OFF HIGHWAY 16...OTHER COVES LOCATED EAST OF DENVER...AND LOCATIONS NORTH OF WESTPORT. COUNTY OFFICIALS COUNTED 28 LARGE TREES THAT FELL ON HOMES AND CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE...CAUSED BY BOTH TORNADO AND OUTFLOW DAMAGING WINDS.
